About the client:

Our client is a leading provider of integrated environmental solutions in North America offering collection, transfer, recycling and resource recovery, and disposal services to residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal customers.

Customer Challenge:

With a truck fleet of 50000+ trucks servicing 30 million Residential, Industrial, Municipal and Commercial customers across North America, customer needed a partner to address the following challenges:

  • De-Couple various services in existing monolothical application (Technology: JAVA, Struts)
  • Supply Chain and Logistics challenges due to tightly coupled modules
  • Inability to auto-scale, flexible to changes/updates and run different services independently
  • Challenges in the maintenance of the tightly coupled application.
  • High operational and maintenance costs.

The Quinnox Approach and Solutions:

To tackle the myriad challenges faced by the client, Quinnox redesigned and developed the site based on the principles of the “Reactive Manifesto,” subsequently deploying it on AWS infrastructure utilizing a range of AWS services. Further,

  • Quinnox team analyzed all processes and Infrastructure dependencies in the existing monolithical app.
  • Each business process was then broken down into smaller and simpler services (organized around business capabilities) to be built and deployed as independent Reactive Systems.

These Reactive Systems were constructed using the latest technology stack, including React JS, React Redux, Node JS, Docker, NoSQL databases, Microservices, RESTful Web Services, etc., and were deployed on AWS Infrastructure. This setup enabled automatic scaling, gave the flexibility to accommodate changes, and ensured loose coupling between components.

Business Benefits:

  • Seamless integration which streamlined the flow of  key supply chain & logistics functionality
  • Ensured ease of maintenance
  • The application was made scalable, highly available and extendible
  • Augmented resource optimization
  • Reduced the operational and maintenance cost
