Our client is a leading provider of integrated environmental solutions in North America offering collection, transfer, recycling and resource recovery, and disposal services to residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal customers.
Client Challenge:
The client faced several challenges with their e-commerce solutions, which traditionally ran on webMethods. The existing webMethod ESB process proved to be lengthy and time-consuming, significantly affecting performance. In response to this, the client expressed a desire to transition towards more cloud-based solutions, such as Salesforce, for their e-commerce tasks, aiming to render their solution serverless and lightweight.
Additionally, the allure of serverless offerings like AWS was compelling, given their prior positive experiences and recognized efficiency. Consequently, the client sought to migrate certain ESB process interactions to the cloud, with the specific goal of addressing speed and scalability issues that had previously hindered their operations.
The Quinnox Approach and Solutions:
Quinnox embarked on a transformative journey, leveraging cutting-edge technology to migrate the client’s on-prem ESB logic, originally supported by webMethods, to an AWS-based cloud solution. The primary focus was to facilitate e-commerce transactions in both Canada and the US, necessitating the development of REST APIs using the latest NodeJS technology, replacing the integration with the existing ESB system. To ensure robustness and reliability, the transaction and error logging were seamlessly directed to Splunk through a SQS-based asynchronous approach.
By implementing a suite of AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, Dynamo DB, SQS, Cloud Front, and CF templates, Quinnox engineered a Serverless architecture, simplifying deployment and management on AWS, while enabling auto-scaling and eliminating administrative overhead.
Furthermore, to fortify the security posture, Okta-based authentication services were implemented, ensuring a secure connection to on-premises resources. Notably, Quinnox successfully migrated 25 on-prem ESB solutions to the Serverless ESB, marking a significant milestone in the client’s digital transformation journey.
